Thought it couldn't get any simpler? Think again...

Air fryers have become an increasingly important part of our kitchens, revolutionising how we prepare everything from fish and pasta bakes to cakes and desserts.

Using much less oil, air fryers provide a healthier alternative to traditional oven cooking or shallow frying — and they've become so popular, many new multi-cookers on the market include an air fryer function too.

Whether you've had your air fryer for years or just took the plunge, having the right accessories can make a big difference to their ease of use, and can also upgrade their functionality.

So if you don't want to upgrade to a new model, we've handpicked the best air fryer accessories to help you get the most out of your mini oven.

These small, silicone, heat-resistant gloves are ideal for removing basket liners, racks or ramekins from your air fryer drawer.

They're much easier— and more hygienic — than trying to get a grip on a scorching silicone liner with a tea towel!

These useful egg moulds are good for making perfectly poached eggs, without creating a mess all over the air fryer drawer. They even have cute silicone handles for easy removal. They also make great mini cake tins for individual desserts, muffins or pies.

One of the biggest benefits of using an air fryer is that it requires much less oil (if any) to cook our favourite dishes.

However, if you do want – or need – to spritz a little oil into the drawer, this mister is a great buy. It will also look good on your kitchen counter.

We all know the importance of ensuring food is cooked through, and using a thermometer probe saves the faff of taking food in and out to see how far along it is.

This one uses a red LED light and a hold function to keep the temperature on screen, and you can choose to measure in celsius or fahrenheit.

If you have an air fryer with two drawers (otherwise known as 'dual zone'), you'll find this kit useful.

It includes two silicone baskets, a skewer rack and four skewers, a grill rack, an egg mould, a pair of tongs, a spatula, an oil brush and 100 air fryer liners; it's everything you need for speedy air frying in one set — just be sure to check the equipment fits your fryer before buying. It should work with most air fryers but was specifically designed for use with the most popular Ninja models.

If you need more space than a silicone basket allows, or have an air fryer with one drawer, reusable liners like this one are useful to have to hand.

This is dishwasher-safe (but also easy to wipe clean) — simply cut it to the size of your air fryer drawer before placing inside.

We use basket liners most of the time with our air fryer, simply because they are so easy to clean. You can pop them in the dishwasher (or leave them to soak if needed), instead of awkwardly trying to get into every corner of the air fryer drawer.

They're particularly useful when cooking something cheesy or involving sauce (hello, quick pasta bake), as you can put your ingredients into the basket liner and then put the basket into the air fryer tray.

There are now a number of recipe books dedicated to air fryers, and this one includes everything from breakfasts to chocolate cakes, showing just how versatile these kitchen gadgets have become.

Alternatively, you may have seen Poppy O'Toole on Saturday Kitchen showing off her air fryer recipes. She started off on TikTok sharing her viral crispy potato inventions, all made in our favourite gadget. This book contains plenty of inspiration, from honey soy salmon and asparagus to the perfect mac and cheese.

Easily make doughnuts at home (yes please!) with a mould that does all the hard work for you. It's non-stick, and suitable for the microwave and oven as well as the air fryer, so you have options.

Even when you’re being super careful with your air fryer and using handy liners for every meal, they can still get mucky. So, it's wise to keep a good brush ready for when you need to deep clean.

This durable tool has a brass wire brush head for loosening food residue and oil, plus a stainless-steel scraper and handy pointed tip for reaching into crevices or awkward areas.

Read our household advice editor's tips on how to keep your air fryer in tip top condition.

Racks help you to achieve that lovely, crispy coating on your chicken and chips because they allow heat to circulate around the food.

This set includes three wire trays and eight silicone feet, so you can stack the racks on top of each other without compromising the capacity. There's also a silicone brush for coating your food in oil or marinades, and tongs for easily removing the trays from your air fryer.
